Alexa Smart Home

Alexa Smart Home Skill enables projector control via Amazon Alexa. Supported control functions include power on/off, volume level, input selection and the USB media player playback.

DLP Technology

DLP (Digital Light Processing) is a proprietary technology that offers digital projection with higher contrast, faster response time, good pixel structure, and virtually no color degradation.

Full 3D

Display true 3D content from almost any 3D source, including 3D Blu-ray Disc™ players, 3D broadcasting, and the latest-generation game consoles. Support for 144Hz rapid-refresh rate provides ultra-smooth flicker-free images. Optoma 3D glasses required.

Dynamic Black Technology

This feature gives more depth to your image by smoothly adjusting the lamp output to create a stunning high contrast ratio. Bright scenes appear crisp and clear, while dark scenes remain detailed with deep blacks and exceptional light and shade detail.

Using sophisticated frame-interpolation technology, advanced motion control processing eliminates motion blurring or image judder, even in high-speed action sequences. PureMotion works in both 2D and 3D and is optimized for 1080p24.

This technology ensures all the information contained in an image is accurately reproduced on the screen to give a stunning crystal clear, pin-sharp picture. Complex algorithms detect each frame and improve image sharpness before the frame is projected.

This mode allows the projector to reproduce more detailed shades of color for vibrant, natural-looking images. Colors are more saturated and more accurate.

Vertical Lens Shift

Vertical lens shift simplifies installations by shifting the image up and down without image distorsion to provide a wider range of projector placement possibilities,  making it easier to position the projector in a room.

High dynamic range (HDR) technology delivers brighter whites and deeper black levels. Optoma HDR accepts HDR10 signals with four selectable picture modes: Normal, Bright, Detail, Film

  1. Stunning Picture, Alexa/Google Home Features Not So Much 3 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Aug 2020

This is a follow up to my previous review of the UHD51A. The original unit shipped without a dongle for the Wi-Fi a quick email to Consignia and they put me over to Spenser from Optoma who sent out a USB Dongle which arrived and did not work. An email back and he shipped another dongle only to discover that it worked initially but quickly stopped working. Now the thought is the network card on the unit is faulty. Only problem I have is that they expect me to pay to send the defective unit back to them. They send a defective unit and I have to pay to send it back??
Like some others here I too am experiencing a very loud whirring sound from the projector as well that started just a few hours into running it. Those issues aside the projector itself puts out a very nice high quality picture and that is without even doing any tweaking.

  2. UHD51A is a beauty! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Jan 2019

After researching for days I decided the best projector for my situation would be the UHD50 based on features and price point. After receiving the first refurbished unit I noticed a faint whining sound coming from the unit. Jason was quick to remedy the issue and we had another unit sent from Optoma as a replacement. Unfortunately this refurbished unit also suffered from the same irritating noise. After discussing the issue with some other owners on different forums I came to the conclusion that some of the UHD50's had issues with the actuator on the TI chip. This lead to the high pitch whine that some customers were complaining about. After discussing my options with the good people at Consignia, we decided to change the order and I upgraded to the UHD51A. I have been using the unit now for 2 months and I couldn't be happier with the projector. I preformed the firmware update when I first received the unit (just follow the directions on Optoma's website) and the projector has been working great since. No irritating noise at all. The picture quality is truly amazing. I made my own 130 inch screen using fabric from Elite Screens (Amazon), and I am running my Sony 4K blue ray player and PS4 into the unit. Once you get the calibration settings set up (which you can find online) the projector preforms better then expected. If you like 3D movies this is a great projector. After the firmware update it will flawlessly switch to 3D settings as soon as it senses a 3D signal from your blue ray player. If you are thinking of getting a quality 4k picture for under $2000 I highly suggest this unit. If you have any issues along the way you can be assured that Jason and the team at Consignia will take care of them quickly.
